What a day!

Today we were looking forward to a wonderfully uneventful day. We were going to hit preschool this morning and spend the rest of the day playing at home. Ky was especially looking forward to show and tell and I was excited to see her enjoy another day at school. She is growing so fast there and the teachers are already impressed with her progress. However, life had other plans for us. Ty and I got a 4 am wake up call from two irritable kids with high fevers. Not only that, but Ky has the stomach flu to boot. You can just tell she was miserable.

Then, as if the day couldn't get any better, our dishwasher broke. A non-repairable kind of broken at that. So, Ty ran and got us a new one. We didn't have anything better to do with our money and time anyway. *grumble grumble* Luckily the box it came in made a perfect "sick hut" for Ky since we are stuck inside to riding out the bug.

Savvy was anti-camera today so I am adding one of my favorite pictures of her. We call this "scary hair Savvy." I have no idea how we got such cute kids!

Mini-Frugalite

Anyone who knows us knows that we try to live a frugal life and enjoy saving money. Finding good deals has become a game for us and we often spend family time scouring yard and clearance sales for treasures. We have found that our kids like clothes, books, and toys from those places the same if not more than from a department store.

Today we went to some yard sales and we found an Ariel nightgown that possibly dates from the actual theatrical release. We found it in a box of other 80's (read that as "vintage") attire marked at .25 a piece and said "what the heck?" Well, Ky has now fallen in love with it and I can't seem to convince her to take it off. Don't mind her fuzzy hair... she was anti-hairspray this morning.

Princesses

Tinkerbell and Cinderora (a cross between Cinderella and Aurora) visited our house today. Cute aren't they?

I was able to catch a special "sister moment." I never seem to have my camera ready, but I got lucky this time. They really do love each other. They are truely such sweet sisters.

Ky's first day of school!

Today I got one of the best Birthday presents ever. Our sweet little Ky started school. I think it will be great for her speech and peer interaction. When we got there she did something I had never seen before - she was actually shy! Here is a picture of her in front of her "big girl" school with her "art hanger" project from the first day.

The initial shyness was short lived and soon she was off and playing! She didn't pick dress-up or the kitchen though, she settled right into playing cars with the boys. That's our girl!

Ky even sat on the mat with the class for story-time! I was so proud. I'm sure that when she goes by herself on Wednesday it will be much harder on me than her. Our baby is just getting so big!

Happy Grandparents Day!

A BIG "Happy Grandparents Day!" to the grandpas and grandmas in our wonderful girls' lives. I figured that nothing would be better than a phone call and a cute pre-church picture. Thanks for all you do and hopefully we can all get together soon!

So pretty!

Ky has started being very stubborn about dressing herself. Today she even had to pick out her own clothes. Luckily we didn't have anywhere to go. She picked a pink, red, and white striped turtleneck and purple pajama pants that are a size too small. She looked fabulous.

Gotta love color wonder...

Today for art time we did color wonder finger paints. We had never tried them before and they were a HIT. Ky sat and painted through two packs of paint and an entire book of color wonder paper. She had soooo much fun.

Savvy liked it too. She was more "dainty" in her strokes and only used three sheets of paper and one thing of paints. She was more worried about looking at the camera.

Between the two of them we will never run out of incredible works of art. Now if I can just figure out how to get the nice layer of clear greasy film off our entire kitchen and two little girls.
