Rainy Day Camp-out

It was rainy here today, but the girls desperately wanted to go outside. So we dressed warm and set up the Lightning McQueen tent on the porch. It didn't take Ky long to fill it up with blankets, animals, and pillows. They have been happily playing all morning.

We've Adopted!

We adopted two new cabbage patch kids yesterday. We now have a brood of six! These two are different however, because they use the potty! After a long day of helping the new dolls use the potty - the girls gave it a whirl. Ky even had success! They are so proud of their new dolls and we are so proud of them. Here are the girls showing off the new additions.
Savvy already had Karlie Isis and Naomi Reina and is proud to announce her new addition - Lucille Yazmin!

Ky already had Skylar Joy and Alexus Maggie and is proud to announce her new addition - Cadence Colleen!

New Sheets

We decided that the new beds needed new sheets. We found two sets we liked, so we let the girls pick. Of course Savvy picked the pink and purple butterflies and Ky wanted the bright yellow flowers. Neither one would change their mind, so we decided each bed would match the girl and not each other. We got some cute pictures of the girls playing on their new sheets.

Thanks Grandma!

My mom made the girls special scripture bags for church. We filled them with all sorts of activities and treats for sacrament meeting today. They looked so cute with their "purses" heading into church that we had to take a picture.

New Nightgowns

When I can find a great deal on clothes I often buy them to put away until the girls need them. Today's mail brought one such purchase that should have been for Ky next summer. However, I made the mistake of letting the girls see it before I got it put away. After much excitement about all the Disney Princess pajamas, I let them try on the slippers. Before long they were both dressed in size 6 nightgowns, and the girls are certain we aren't going to put them away. We made them take them off for dinner and bathtime and it was tragic! (Looks like I'm going to be hemming a Tinkerbell nightgown tommorrow.)

Lil' Dipper

For dessert we had cookies n' cream ice cream cones. Ky has never had her ice cream in a cone before and wasn't quite sure what to do after she ate off the scoop. She solved the problem by using her finger as a spoon. Atta girl!

Corn on the Cob

Dinner included some of the first corn on the cob of the season. Savvy decided she was going to be big girl and eat it straight. She surprised us by doing really well! She loves her veggies!!

Pigtails

Savvy's hair is finally long enough for pigtails! I couldn't believe how cute she looked! She is growing up so fast! I couldn't believe that I didn't try sooner. Ky's first pigtails were much smaller. Here is a picture of this milestone for each of my girls.

Ky - 9 months
and
Savvy - 21 months

Big Girl Beds!

I am sooooo blessed to have 3 older sisters that have a total of 10 kids. They are always sending toys, clothes, and recently beds to my girls once their kids no longer need them. We are so thankful! There is rarely a day that does not have one of my girls wearing some of their cousins adorable clothes, and now they have been lucky enough to get "big kid" beds. They were very excited! It was so hard for Mommy and Daddy to put the crib and the toddler bed into storage. Our little girls are getting so big so fast! However, any fears we had were calmed as the girls climbed right up, and Ky even wanted to go to bed 2 hours early! So here are before and after pictures of our big girls on their big beds.

Rockin'!

The girls were so good to pick out their outfits, which just both happened to be purple, and to sit so well to get their hair done. So, we took the time to do "Pudder" and "Tip Top's" hair and take them for a ride in Daddy's chair. You can't see this in the video, but they both have sticky hairspray fur.

The Ice Cream Truck

Just as we were finishing lunch, we heard the tune of "I'm a Little Teapot" coming through the window. Finally it's warm enough that the ice cream truck is making the rounds. Ty ran out and got us all a treat. The girls were thrilled and very very sticky!

Soooo Tired!

Savvy kept nodding off during lunch, but there was no way that she was going to stop eating mac and cheese!

Pudder

Kyrie was a preemie and spent 21 days in the NICU. While she was there she had an incredible nurse named Melissa. When Ky was ready to come home Melissa gave her a pink beanie baby bear named Pudder. He is one of the family now and Ky won't sleep without him. Today she decided that Pudder needed a diaper, so we pulled out the "Wee Pee" diapers from those NICU days, and they were a perfect fit! She has happily been changing "stinkies" all day.

Chuck E. Cheese's

We went to Chuck E. Cheese's last night for dinner and fun. The girls love it there! All those flashy lights and buttons to push. Ky can get a ball all the way up the skeeball slope and was quick to figure out air hockey. Savvy loves to pull tickets out of the machine and eat pizza! They had so much fun and got some neat prizes - when we left Ky told me and Daddy "Thank You!" Hopefully we get to go back soon!

Salsa Savvy

Seriously. What won't she eat? Our little Savvy loves food. We thought she would make a face when she demanded to try salsa, but she just said "Yum!" and kept on dipping. She eventually even ditched the chips and just started eating it straight. She must have got daddy's taste buds!

My little Mommy

We got out the toy stroller and swing today so the girls could play. Kyrie couldn't wait to put "Pudder" in his stroller and take him for a walk. She strapped him in and gave him kisses, she is so nurturing! You wouldn't know it by the face she pulled for the camera!

Mother's Day

Daddy helped the girls with their Mother's Day present. How cute is that? He took a photo and added handprints with this poem:
Sometimes you get discouraged
because I am so small
And always leave my fingerprints
on furniture and walls.
But everyday I'm growing
and soon will be so tall
That all these little fingerprints
will be difficult to recall
So here's a little handprint
that you can put away
So you will know how my fingers looked
on this special day.
I was so excited. It was perfect. So here's a happy Mother's Day to all the mom's in our lives. Mom Nyman, Mom Nelson, Grandma Nelson, Heather, Hope, and April... thanks for all you do and the example you are to me for my kids!

Savvy vs. tissue

In case you couldn't tell...
Savvy won.

No toys?

Today we had to move all the toys out of the front room for Ky's speech therapy. We do this a couple times a month and it is always fun to see the things the girls find to entertain themselves without toys. Today was filled with hide and seek, dancing, and making "door" music. It was also a big day for Ky! She did really well in therapy working on her colors and learned the word "money!"

Two points!

In our effort to teach the girls about money, they each receive a small allowance. Our plan is when they get older and want a toy at the store we can ask them if they have enough money to buy it.
Well, the girls finally saved enough to pool their cash and buy a basketball hoop for the porch. They were so excited! Ky can actually shoot the ball and make it in. Savvy loves getting lifted up for a "slam dunk" by Daddy. Either way, when a ball goes through the net it is expected that the nearest parent says "two points!"
Daddy was so thrilled to have a "manly" toy around. It's probably a good thing he had already left for work when the girls used the base for a tea party.

Where'd he go?!?!?

Savvy made her first Sunday in Nursery a memorable one. As the kids settled onto their carpet squares for singing, she made sure to get herself right in front of the teacher. They went through all the songs and she did her best to follow along. The last song of the day was about a snowman. In the song he grows tall, tall, tall and then melts small, small small. However, this didn't satisfy Savvy. She stood up, walked over to the teacher, and with concern in her eyes demanded to know "Where'd he go?!?!?" I thought the teacher was going to cry she was laughing so hard. Maybe Savvy will get some bonus points come Christmas where she cared so much about Frosty.

aren't our lives just about the moments?

Every once in a while your life is blessed with one of those moments. No matter how small, they are memories you will cherish forever. Now that I have 2 sweet daughters those moments come daily... So here is our life in moments.
